With a very difficult election season coming to a close, and all of the tension brought by the economic crisis, Pastor Stoos uses Jeremiah 29 and I Timothy 2 to illustrate a principle found in both the Old and New Testaments: God's people are to pray for the peace of the city! Jeremiah had a simple message for those carried away into captivity: Build houses & garden, get married and have children and then have those children get married and have more children! God's faithful people did just that and God's gracious plan of salvation went forward at they returned to Jerusalem at the appointed time to restore the City and Temple so that Jesus the Messiah could come at His appointed time. Today we are to be faithful in the same way no matter what the outcome of an election or the economic climate, so that God can carry out His plan of salvation bringing in the fullness of the Gentiles!
