Our culture hails authenticity, being "Real" or "True to one's ownself" as the ultimate virtue, so that a person, though morally decadent or walking a path contrary to Christ, if sincere, is to be embraced as being in a good place spiritually, though they disobey the Lord. Jesus says it is those who are pure in heart who are blessed, and it is these who will see God. If you are not devoted to God in this life, you will not see God in the life to come.
