Individuals that Christ can use as models of ministry must be worthy to be followed because they are the primary guardians of "the faith." When we think of being models of ministry worthy to be followed there must be a practical connection and manifestation of doing the "work of the ministry" and having been perfected to that end (Ephesians 4:12). Separation from worldliness and dedication to learning and living "the faith" from the Word of God must be a manifest reality of the life and practice of such a person before he is capable to lead others. We cannot disconnect the word "perfecting" from obvious levels of maturity in both knowing "the faith" and living "the faith." Superficiality in learning the Word of God and living the Word of God is unacceptable to being worthy to be followed as a Christian. It is unacceptable because it is a corruption of true Christianity and creates a contradiction and aberration that cannot be tolerated. This is necessary and essential of both pastors and deacons.
