Paul’s message to you and me, who walk according to the Spirit, is a "hang in there" (encouragement) message: Our future glory will be worth our present waiting and suffering. The apostle’s theme is glory, and his words are framed-up around three testimonies, uttered in suffering and anticipation given in “groaning’.
This morning we’ll begin to unravel this text by looking at the first two of three eager testimonies to the reality of present suffering in the anticipation of future glory. Testimony one: Creation groans. Testimony two: Believers groan. And then next Sunday we’ll come back and look at Testimony three: The Spirit groans.
