John will focus on 'God's legal case with his people' in Micah 6:1-8. The Lord's controversy with his people is presented in a court-room setting. The evidence is that God has not let his people down; they have chosen their own way. With pathos and tenderness the Lord seeks to woo His people back to their Covenant obligations for the only lasting verdict from such predicament is the word of free justification in the Son of God who loved us and gave himself for us.
