The preaching of Charles Haddon Spurgeon was the means by which thousands were preached n his day, and through his written works, he continues to be a means of blessing over a century after his death. We look at his ministry and say WONDERFUL! GLORIOUS! PRAISE GOD! But would our praise have been equally effusive and lacking in bitterness if we'd been in a small evangelical church just down the road from Spurgeon's Metropolitan Tabernacle?
If we can imagine that scenario then we can perhaps understand how John's disciples must have felt when they saw that the ministry of Jesus was eclipsing that of John the Baptist. John however felt very differently, he rejoiced!
