"You will not take advantage of me!" is the celebrated mantra of our age. People who repeatedly sin, repent, and ask forgiveness are not "Sincere" in their repentance and therefore should only be given a limit as to how many times they should be forgiven, so the logic goes. In this passage of Scripture the Lord instructs His people that there must not be a limit as to how many times we forgive those who repent. Why not? Because we have been forgiven, in Christ, a debt we could never pay ourselves. Therefore don't place a limit upon how many times you will forgive.
