Many quacks are peddling their pills on the internet, making outrageous claims! But how do we know if their pills or elixirs work? We need proof, clinical studies that prove their claims! How do we know that our hope is not some 'pie-in-the sky' fantasy? Afterall, we cannot see hope, nor our eternal inheritance, nor even Jesus Christ? We need some objective facts that support our salvation, and those facts are found in the Old Testament prophetic Scriptures. Our belief in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is not some newfangled idea concocted by the apostles in some back room, but rather it is deeply rooted in the Old Testament. The Old Testament prophets diligently searched WHAT the promised salvation is. Being born again is not a new concept, but rooted in the New Covenant of Jeremiah 31. They also diligently searched WHEN this salvation would be instituted, and from Daniel 9, God pinpoints the day when the Messiah would be cut off. They also diligently searched HOW this salvation could be accomplished, struggling to put together the two portraits of the Messiah as the Suffering Servant and the Glorious King. All of their efforts was not for them, but for US that the hope of our salvation is not based on some emotional response on our part, but grounded in the revealed Word of God!
