Proverbs 6:16-19 includes the listing of six sins that God hates, yes, seven that are an abomination to him. These differ from the Seven Deadly Sins popularized by Roman Catholic scholasticism. The Seven Deadly Sins are forbidden by Scripture in various places, but the inspired list of our study are found together and reveal hearts and inclinations contrary to the will of God.
Importantly, the converse or obverse (depending how you look at it) of each of these sins is the positive demands or desires that God has for us as his people. In forbidding certain sins, he is showing his appreciation or desire for the opposite virtue.
This message considers the Third Sin that God hates,SHEDDING INNOCENT BLOOD. Clearly, the Sixth Commandment is in view. God wills love and concern, especially for the innocent and helpless. If God forbids this, he is fact revealing that He wants his people to protect and care for those in need.
