Paul was writing to the Galatians because they were deserting the gospel. The gospel is all about Jesus. Because Jesus died on the cross, our sins are paid for. When we are in Christ, we will not be afraid, even of death. Every event in the past all pointed to Jesus. During the time that Paul wrote this letter, there was a group of people who said that salvation comes from Jesus and made other rules including circumcision. Since the New Covenant, circumcision is not required, we are not saved by what we do, we are saved by grace, through faith in Christ. There is only one way to get to Heaven. It is through Jesus Christ alone. Paul says that if we follow the wrong gospel, which is no gospel at all, we are eternally damned (cursed). We don’t clean up ourselves so that we can become Christians. We give ourselves to Jesus, and He starts the process of changing us from the inside out. We repent and turn away from sin because we believe the gospel. We all need the Savior, and we cannot change on our own. If someone is Jewish or any other ethnic group, they can follow Jesus. We also do not need to start being Jewish to follow Jesus either. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. He has made the way for all who believe.
