The thought of authority is a distasteful one to Postmodern minds and ears. The autonomy of the individual is regarded as supreme in the pantheon of verities to be sought after. The decline of biblical regard for authority is infecting the church of Jesus Christ and having its inevitable results in the crumbling of sound biblical theology and practice. This study series builds upon the previous study of “Postmodernity and Christianity,” which examined the philosophical foundations of the Post Modern view of objective and absolute Truth.
Our previous lesson examined the authority of God, the Creator, as the rock bottom foundation for understanding all authority, everywhere. In this message we continues to explore the authority of Jesus Christ, the Son of God as part of the divine Trinity. God has given to the Risen Savior, Jesus, all authority over all of creation. He is the head of His Body, the Church, and now rules as the King over the great Kingdom of Heaven. The reality of this authority is emphatic in the Old Testament prophecies as well as in the words of Jesus to the New Testament Apostles. As our study prepares to expand to delegated authority in this world, we must first, and properly, understand the source and nature of all authority.
A course notebook is being developed concurrently with this series. Upon completion it will be available at a nominal charge, upon request.
