Aim: To understand how the church is entirely dependent upon the risen Christ.
Doctrine: Jesus Christ's resurrection is the most significant fact of all history: human and divine. Without it there would be no salvation for anyone, and without it our Christian faith is false. Exegesis: Three dramatic truths surrounding the risen Christ: both God and sinners had a role in the Messiah's death (vv. 22-24); holy scripture boldly prophesied the Messiah's resurrection (vv. 25-28); the Messiah is now permanently enthroned in glory (vv. 29-33). Further application: why the doctrine of the risen Christ is so important for us today: because all the church's power descends from Him, and all the church's hope is in him.
Key verses: vv. 32-33 "This Jesus God has raised up of which we are all witnesses. Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.''
