Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
Works and Grace for salvation are mutually exclusive and cancel out the other.
One excludes the other One cancels out the other
Christianity emphasizes PEOPLE Religion emphasizes BURDEN-bearing
There can only be two basic doctrines regarding salvation: God saves man or man saves himself.
The assertion that God saves man requires God to impute His righteousness to the believer; which is precisely the arrangement that the Bible proclaims repeatedly.
Romans 3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
Righteiousness is imputed (accredited) to those who believe
Salvation by grace is trusting in the unmerited favor of God.
Isaiah 64:6 Matthew 23:4 Ephesians 1:6
Galatians 3:2-3 Galatians 4:21
Revelation 4:11
2 Corinthians 5:21
Philippians 2:13
Acts 17:30-31
Faith justifies the person, works justify the faith. We are not justified by doing good works, but being justified we then do good works. As the apple is not the cause of the apple tree, but the fruit of it; even so good works are not the cause of our salvation, but a sign of the fruit of the same. A Christian not depending upon good works for salvation is not the same a a Christian not doing good works after salvation.
