“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain!” proclaim the angels on high as they circle God the Creator.
From the beginning of time to eternity, there has always been and always will be worship. The purpose? To make much of the King. But, that's not the only purpose of worship.
Worship is also for the believer. And this is where I want to focus our attention today. Worshipping together causes a stirring in our spirits that cannot be awakened while worshiping alone. Don’t get me wrong, I'm not saying that worshipping alone isn’t effective. It is!
What I am saying, however, is that there is incredible power when we worship alongside one another.
In Ephesians, Paul instructs the church to “be imitators of Christ Jesus.” He tells us that we will encounter trials and temptations in our lives and he assigns the church body with the task of encouraging and building one another up. He goes on to say, in Ephesians 5:19, that we are to be filled with the Spirit, “speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music from your heart to the Lord.” (HCSB) That’s corporate worship.
Corporate Worship is a source of encouragement — it is the building up of one another. There is an assurance, when we sing as a collective, that we are not alone. As a unified church, we are empowered to stand and sing God’s truths!
Church, don’t shy from singing with one another. Don’t settle for standing in the background. Scream your battle cry alongside your brothers and sisters with one voice! When we worship together, it both brings glory to the Father and encourages the church, empowering us in life’s war.
Believer, will you sing with us?
Logos Community Church McAllen will host a Night of Worship on Sunday, November 15 from 5-7 p.m. Please join us for a special time of corporate worship that will include singing, prayer and communion.
