“So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.” – Galatians 5:1
Over the past year, the Lord has been tugging me along leading me on a journey to live in full abandon, calling me to a life free from anxiety and a self-imposed fear that I somehow hold the power to mess everything up that matters in this world.
Don’t Get Tied Up
In the book of Galatians, Paul implores the church (after calling them out on all of their sins and urging them towards repentance for following the law over Christ) to now make sure they don’t get tied up by submitting to their strongholds all over again.
Preach the Gospel to Yourself
“The most effective thing we can do is train ourselves to rehearse gospel truth in the most mundane corners of our lives, so that we might proclaim gospel truths to the ends of the earth.” – Ruth Chou Simmons
Replace the lie that says, “I’m not strong enough” with the truth from 2 Cor 12:9 that says, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.”
Rest and Bear Fruit
“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” – Galatians 5:22-23
So here’s the challenge: Take your strongholds and exchange them for the fruit God has promised you. Instead of anxiety, embrace peace. In the place of guilt, experience joy. Lay down your pride and put on gentleness. And when you feel fear, remember that the Lord empowers us with faith!
