When reading about the life of David, it is evident he trusted the Lord. David faced many hardships. Yet, he never turned his back on the Lord. Saul pursued David even though David had done no wrong. David hides in a cave. David takes his family to a foreign country to stay while he is in hiding. How difficult it must have been for David when he heard Saul had slain the priests because they aided him. Yet, in all of these trials, David continues to trust the Lord.
The contrast between David and Saul is found in Psalm 52. This Psalm is written after Saul has the priests slain by the hand of Doeg.
David states about Saul: "Why do you boast in evil?" "Why do you destroy?" "You Love evil more than good." "Lying rather than speaking." "You love devouring words."
David then states his belief. "I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever." "I will praise God forever." "I will wait on Your name, for it is good."
If we looked at how you respond to difficulty what would we find? If we investigated your life, would we find the attitude of Saul or Daivd?
How you respond in the day of crisis says alot about who you are. Will you turn away from God or to Him? Will you trust that God is good? Will you depend on mercy? Will you continue to praise Him in the midst of adversity.
I pray today that you will depend on the Lord as David, no matter how diffcult your circumstances become.
