2014 is passing quickly at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. We enjoy being busy and accomplishing our God given purpose to work with the teachable, reach the reachable, and to work with the rest. Operation Saturation officially started in the month of May. It is an “umbrella” for all our outreach ministries. The various ministries include door to door visitation, Sunday School bus visitation, teen canvassing, and the “Sunshine and Smiles Club.” This children’s club visits the church’s shut-ins and the local nursing homes. We still believe the Great Commission teaches “Go ye.” Each Christian has a God given responsibility to go into the cities, streets, lanes, and to travel the highways to try to get people to receive Christ and to come to church.
Pastor has a burden to see the young couples of MZBC have Biblically successful marriages. For this reason he took the young couples class and taught, “Basic Building Blocks of Marriage.”
The teens hosted the children that ride the Sunday School bus to an activity at the church. Everyone had a great time and our teens had an opportunity to give of themselves.
The mothers and daughters enjoyed a banquet the Saturday before Mother’s Day. As usual it was well attended and many guests came.
Attendance has been excellent this month. Mother’s Day was a special service as we remembered the mothers in our church who have lost a child. Memorial Day we sought to remember those honored dead who gave their lives for the freedoms we enjoy. We also remembered the one who gave His life and shed His blood so that all men could be free from the tyranny of Satan, Jesus Christ.
We enjoyed having two special speakers this last month. Brother Williams is the founder of Hephzibah House, a home for troubled girls. Mark Pereira is a native of Portugal and was led to Christ and discipled by a missionary that we support.
We only have one chance at life. Time is a precious commodity and it can be wasted by just living life in a care free way. Christ told us to, “Seek first the Kingdom of God.” How are you doing in this area? Is God first? Is He first on Sunday morning? Is He first in all the decisions of life? I encourage you to visit us this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Start this week at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Make it your home away from home.
