The Word Became Flesh: Perfect Redeemer, Perfect Redemption
The Word Became Flesh (John 1:14) - The deity took on humanity. The divine was clothed in human flesh. The humanity of Christ cloaked His divine nature, but it did not lessen or weaken it. The divine nature assumed a complete human nature but did not change or alter or enhance the human nature. He was completely the Word, eternal, divine, co-equal with the Father, and He was completely flesh, able to fully identify, sympathize, and experience the limitations and weaknesses of humanity. In His deity, He was feeding every creature; in His humanity, He would grow hungry. In His deity, He was sustaining all life; in His humanity, He would lay down His life. It is the wonder of the world. To be explained but not to be fully comprehended. Never to be replicated but always to be believed. How else could He be so complete and so gloriously a Savior? How else could He be our Intercessor? For without His humanity He could not identify and sympathize with our weakness and without His deity He could not answer our greatest need and give us the best things. How else could He be our Mediator? For without His humanity He could not grasp us in our falleness and without His deity He could not rescue us from it. How else could He be our reconciliation? For it is in His humanity that He brought us near to God and it is in His deity that He brought God near to us. How else could He be our righteousness? For it is in His humanity that He earned a perfect righteousness for us and it is in His deity that He imputes that righteousness to our account through faith. How else could He be our Savior? For it is as man that He redeemed fallen man and it is as God that He could accomplish it.
The Word became flesh - the only way perfect redemption would be accomplished by the Perfect Redeemer!
