Scripture is a word of grace because Scripture is an immeasurable, God-given treasure. It is perfect (without error); it is sure (it is not misleading); it is right (it is trustworthy); it is pure (undefiled, uncorrupted); it is clean (untainted by sin); it is true (without deception). These verses uphold the doctrines of inspiration of Scripture (God-given) and infallibility of Scripture (without error). Scripture, therefore is entirely trustworthy (2 Tim 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21, Matthew 22:43). God gave His Word and ensured His word and has kept His word by the Spirit, that means we can trust it, we can live by it, we can believe it because God gave it and guarantees it! It is a word of grace.

Scripture is a word of grace because Scripture is an agent of gracious transformation. It revives the soul (raises us from being spiritually dead and numb); it makes wise the simple (replaces our false notions with truth); it rejoices the heart (it draws us to our only source of true joy); it enlightens the eyes (removes the blinding scales of sin and darkness and shines forth the glories of God). The word of God is used by the Spirit of God to bring to life the unbeliever and to bring to maturity the believer (John 8:31-32, 17:17, 1 Thessalonians 2:13). The Scripture is an agent of gracious transformation.
