Northern India - Bridge of Hope Centre Leads to Church Growth
When Gospel for Asia opened a Bridge of Hope centre in a remote Dalit village in North India, the oppressed people who lived there encountered the love of Christ for the first timeβand it was nothing short of revolutionary!
For them, sending their children to school was an unreachable dream. They lived in virtual slavery, with no hope of ever improving their lot in life. But today, thanks to Bridge of Hope, the children of this Dalit community go to school proudly dressed in uniforms and eager to learn. Their parents are pleased with the education they are receiving. And things they would never be able to pay for, such as notebooks, textbooks, uniforms and even a daily hot mealβare provided for them by caring sponsors around the world.
After school, the kids spend time at a Gospel for Asia Bridge of Hope centre, where they are taught Bible stories and songs about Jesus. In the evening, they often sing the songs and retell the stories to their parents, sparking in them a curiosity about Jesus.
Through Bridge of Hope, the children have learned about the love Jesus has for them, and soon their parents began to understand that God loves and cares about them and their family. One by one, villagers received Jesus as their Saviour. And today, a thriving church of 45 believers is planted and continues to grow.
There are an estimated 300 million Dalits in India, and most are still living lives of hopelessness and despair. But through Bridge of Hope, Gospel for Asia is already reaching more than 30,000 childrenβand multiplied thousands more friends and family membersβwith the Good News of Jesus Christ. In fact, through Bridge of Hope and other ministries, GFA is starting more than a dozen churches each day, many among the Dalits and other oppressed groups.
"God has given us this open door to the Dalits," says GFA President K.P. Yohannan. "All we have to do is go through it to change millions of lives for eternity."

Racial and Religious Hatred Bill The Racial and Religious Hatred Bill will now NOT receive its third reading in the House of Lords on Monday 19th December. No alternate date has been publicized as yet but it expected to take place in the New Year. This provides us with extra time to pray and to contact Peers expressing our concerns about the Bill and its potential to limit freedom of speech. It also provides extra time to contact MPs, who will review the Bill again after the third reading in the Lords. If you wish to contact a Peer in your area about the debate, you can find a list of Peers by geographical region by following this link: http://www.care.org.uk/Group/Group.aspx?id=17150 If you wish to contact your local MP, you can locate them according to constituency by following this link: http://www.locata.co.uk/commons/
