Our school-year ministries began in September. School of Theology started Tuesday, September 7th. Our youth group of about 40 had their kick-off activity on Friday, September 10th. The next day, the 11th our Master’s Clubbers participated in the Annual Bike Rodeo. Tuesday, September 21st the Ambassadors (age 55+) had a potluck lunch. Wednesday, September 29th, Dr. Don Jasmin preached God’s Word to us.
Sunday, September 12th, we started 2 new adult SS classes—“Faithful Men Teaching Others” taught by Pastor Starr and the “Ladies Marathon Class—becoming a great woman for God” organized by Mrs. Starr. Pastor Bill Hardecker is teaching our adult auditorium class for 8 weeks on “How to Study Your Bible”.
October is pretty busy, too. Pastor Chris preaches a 4-night revival at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Tioga PA pastored by our friend, Steve Neff. Sunday, October 10th, Pastor and Shirley celebrate 20 years at Mt. Zion. Pastor Chris then begins a 5-week block course in our School of Theology Tuesday, Oct. 12th on Homiletics—How to preach.
Friday-Sunday, October 15-17, we will welcome Ben Burks, International Director of Reformers Unanimous will come to help us celebrate the 5th anniversary of our RU chapter in Brogue. RU meets every Friday night, 7-9 in the Annex Gym to help those with addictions. That Friday, the 15th, Ben Burks will speak to our group. The next day, he will hold an in-service training for our workers. On Sunday, he will teach our combined Adult and teen Sunday School classes AND preach in the evening service. If you know someone struggling with an addiction, bring them to the Gym on Friday, Oct. 15 to hear Ben Burks.
We end the month with a big night, Tuesday, October 19, of helping Heritage Baptist Church of Manheim plant a new church in Linglestown. The next night begins our annual 5-day Faith Promise Missions Conference with five missionaries. Finally, on Sunday, October 31, our youth will take charge of our evening service.
