CALL TO WORSHIP

(Tune: “‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus”)

God is holy, just, and righteous

When He saves us by His love;

He is so based on the merits

Of Christ’s righteousness and blood.

Christ our Savior, Christ our Savior;

Look to Him and Him alone;

In His merits we find favor;

He our Lord is on the throne.

Christ has set us free from bondage;

We the debt no longer owe;

He has paid the fullest ransom,

Now the law must let us go.

Free in Jesus, free in Jesus;

Free to serve Him graciously;

He has bought our full salvation

Pardon, peace, and liberty.

Today’s Speaker: Brother Jim Casey will conduct the 11:00 am service today. Pray for him as he delivers God’s word.

Chosen in Christ

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Ephesians 1:3-4

The doctrine of election does not stand in isolation. He chose a people (1) unto something or with an objective in mind and (2) He chose them in a Person – the Lord Jesus Christ. Notice that God chose a people unto salvation in Christ, that they “…should be holy and without blame before him…” Think on that! God has always viewed the elect, those He chose in Christ unto salvation, as holy and without blame in Christ. The all-knowing God knew, even ordained that these saints would fall along with all the rest of humanity in Adam. And thereby, sin entered so that they were made sinners – not holy, not without blame if judged in their federal head, Adam, or according to their own personal character and conduct. Yet here we see that God always viewed them in Christ as perfectly flawless – having the merits of the obedience unto death (that Christ most certainly would accomplish) accounted unto them.

Oh, to be so eternally blessed in Christ!

Randy Wages

ALL SHALL COME

"All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me; him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out" (John 6:37). "All," not one, or two, or ten, or a million only, but "all." And observe wherefore? They are the Father’s gift to Jesus, and therefore they must come. He said elsewhere, "that I should give eternal life to as many as Thou hast given me" (John 17:2). Hence, therefore, there is a blessed provision, a blessed security, that they shall come; for they are the Father’s gift to Christ, as well as the purchase of Christ’s blood; and the promise is absolute in the charter of grace; "Thy people shall be willing in the day of Thy power" (Psalm 110:3). And, to give every possible encouragement to the poor coming sinner, whom God the Holy Ghost is leading by the hand to the all-precious Jesus, He adds,"And him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out."

Robert Hawker

By God’s all-wise appointment, our assemblies are the life, the food, and the nourishment of our souls. It is the main way whereby we publicly identify with Christ and His. We evidence our love for Christ by our loyalty and support of one another in opposition to all false worship. Many things will rise up in competition to the diligent attendance of our assemblies. We must recognize and refuse to give in to anything that is opposed to what Christ commands. The total falling away of a graceless professor always begins with this neglect, this disassociation with God’s people.

(Hebrews 10:25). John Owen (1650)

AM I TRULY BLESSED OF GOD?

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” (Matthew 5:6)

Here are some good questions to ask and consider:

Do I have a hunger in my soul and spirit that only Christ can fill? Christ is the only Bread of life, and if I truly hunger after righteousness, only He can satisfy that hunger (John 6:48-58).

Do I have a thirst only Christ can fill? Christ is the only Water of life, and only He can quench my soul’s thirst (John 4:10-14; 7:37-39).

Do I have an emptiness only Christ can fill? Christ is all fullness for my soul, and only He can fill that void within my heart and bring peace and quietness forever (Isa. 32:17-18; Matt. 11:28-30).

Mark it down – If your hunger, thirst, or emptiness can be satisfied with any one or any- thing but Christ crucified and risen, then you are not savingly blessed of God. But if your hunger, thirst, and emptiness can only be satisfied with Christ and His finished work on the cross, then you are blessed above all people with all spiritual blessings in Christ. (Eph1:3).
