Thought For The Week:
"Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. Let all that you do be done with love." 1 Corinthians 16:13
Please take time each week to check the notes on the reverse of the bulletin. The response to the request for link people to receive "newsletters" from different missions was very poor last week and it appears that the request had not been noticed by some. Probably it was too wordy!
Prayer For The Church:
Continue to pray that God will speak to the youth attending the midweek clubs, and particularly as they draw to a close for this term
Continue to pray for Sarah and Mona and the unborn babes.
Be much in prayer for Mark that during this week of prayer and study the Lord will; refresh him, recommission him and guide him into those areas of the Word that the head of the church would have him bring to His people.
Thank God for keeping us safe on our church outing and giving us a nice day.
Pray that God may bless the summer camps with a full camp of campers. There are potentially 20 more spaces available on each.
Continue to pray for those seeking work, particularly for Pete.
Prayer For The Local Area:
Abingdon
The church correspondent writes, "We thank God for His continuing faithfulness. This summer we are planning to extend the chapel at Hanney to provide a Sunday School there."
Prayer For The Wider Area:
News from Carey Outreach Ministries
Grace International Theological Seminary
The Lord is opening up great doors for establishing seminaries throughout the Arab World. Grace Theological Seminary opened in January, and another large denomination wants us to begin as a soon as possible in the Minya area of Egypt.
The Cairo Institute will be drawing students not only from Egypt, but from Morocco, Sudan, Iraq, Syria, Israel, and Saudi Arabia. We have requests to open Bible Institutes in Beirut as well as in Iraq and Pakistan, which we are currently exploring. We believe we are going to see great things ahead for training leaders across the whole Arab World, and our prayer is that God would lead many of the students to minister in the Arab countries that do not permit western missionaries to enter."
Ephesian Bible Institute: Biblical Theology I
Our lecturer Bob Penhearow taught this course to about 25 students, all preachers and Sunday School teachers from different churches in a big city. Even though these students have been serving the Lord for years, a Christocentric perspective of the Old Testament was new to them. Pastor Bob emphasized a redemptive hermeneutic for interpreting the OT Scriptures in order to preach the Gospel.
This group of students from the Ephesian Bible Institute represent a significant network. They are very committed and excited to continue their studies to complete a degree program.
Networks abound. Some of these students go to other areas to teach the Bible courses in other church networks. Lord willing, through them we may plant more Bible study centers.
Networking on a Large Scale
Bob met with a few of the leaders of a number of networks. One such network has 1,000 churches (over 500,000 people), and we hope to establish the Smyrna Bible Institute there in November 2009. At that point, we will have 3 institutes in operation - with a fourth set to start in March 2010. This is an unprecedented opening to teach the doctrines of Grace to hungry, thirsty, eager students of the Word - and our students turn around and teach their networks! What an amazing opportunity! We need prayer that He would provide the resources to meet these opportunities - more teachers, more translators, more funds to cover all the related travel, materials and translation expenses.

Church Outing
A big thank you to Joyce for all the organization and preparation for the lovely church outing we had yesterday.
If have yet to pay, please can you do this in the next week to cover the cost of the coach.
Pastor commences a two week break from tomorrow. The first week is a sabbatical week which will be devoted to reading and prayer. The second week he and Marilyn will be going to Keswick.
Mission Prayer meeting
We expect the first M.P.M. to be in September. These should prove to be real times of encouragement as we hear what the Lord is doing in other parts of the world.
Lord's Table: We invite visitors who are active members of an evangelical church and have been baptized by immersion to commune at the Lords Table. Friends who are not eligible to participate are welcome to observe but are kindly asked to refrain from taking the bread and wine.
