CALL TO WORSHIP

(O God Our Help)

The veil is rent! Lo! Jesus stands

Before the throne of grace;

And clouds of incense from His hands

Fill all that glorious place.

His precious blood is sprinkled there,

Before and on the throne;

And His own wounds in heav'n declare

His work on earth is done.

"Tis finished!" Here our souls can rest,

His work can never fail;

By Him, our Sacrifice and Priest,

We enter through the veil.

Within the holiest of all,

Cleansed by His precious blood,

Before Thy throne Thy children fall,

And worship Thee, our God.

OUR PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE IN CHRIST

What is the best way to describe a believer's past, present, and future? Let me present the following for your serious thought and consideration -

(1). OUR PAST - We live our lives out of and based upon what Christ our Lord and Savior has already accomplished for us in the past -- "But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world" (Galatians 6:14).

(2). OUR PRESENT - We live our daily lives laying "aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us," running the race of grace "set before us," "looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God" (Heb. 12:1-2).

(3). OUR FUTURE - We live in this world seeking to "live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;" in anticipation as we look "for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;" (Titus 2:13).

-Bill Parker, Pastor of Thirteenth Street Baptist Church

Excerpts from - Kinsman Redeemer

Moses was a type of Christ. As mediator of the Old Covenant he typified Christ who is Mediator of the Everlasting Covenant of Grace. Aaron was a type of Christ. As God's appointed High Priest, he typified Christ who is our Great High Priest. The Sacrificial lamb was a type of Christ. It typified Christ, a "Lamb without spot or blemish." The Altar was a type of Christ who is our Altar. Christ offered his sinless humanity upon the Altar of his Deity to propitiate for sin. The tabernacle, the priesthood, the feast days, the ceremonies, the washings were all pictures and shadows of Christ, of whom it is said in John 20:30; "And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book. But these are written that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you might have life in His name." The Old Testament scripture is a testimony of God's plan and purpose to save his people in and by the Lord Jesus Christ.

Winston Pannell, Eager Avenue Grace Church - Albany, Ga.

Excerpts from: The Lost Sheep Restored

God the Father in His eternal appointments, God the Son in His mediatorial work, and God the Holy Spirit in His inward teachings, have drawn an eternal line of distinction between the whitewashed professor and the living soul. However the 'hypocrites in Zion' may be mixed up in churches with the people of God; however they may profess to believe in the same doctrines, yet there is a boundary-never to be crossed-established between them by the hand of the triune Jehovah, a boundary line which not all the art or wisdom of men can ever break down. The child of God has that filial fear in his heart which the professor knows nothing of; he has that uprightness before God, that integrity, that simplicity and godly sincerity, that desire to be right, that fear to be wrong, that panting of heart feelingly and experimentally to know "the only true God and Jesus Christ whom He has sent," John 17:3 that longing to live day by day under the blessed Spirit's teachings, that humility of soul and brokenness of heart, that tenderness of conscience, and those other fruits of the Spirit, which may indeed be counterfeited and imitated, but which never really exist except in those hearts which God has touched with His finger.

It therefore behooves all those whom God has been pleased to plant upon the walls of Zion as watchmen, in order to call the hours of light and darkness, and to proclaim when "the morning comes, and also the night" Isaiah 21:11-12 to cry aloud and spare not between the honest man and the thief. The faithful shepherds are called upon "to judge between cattle and cattle, between the rams and the he-goats" Eze 34:17 Nor has there ever been a period when the prophets of the Lord were more urgently required to take forth the precious from the vile and be thus manifested as God's mouth Jer 15:19.
