Ecc. 3:14 As we approach the election season and come upon a new year, one of two things happen. We are fearful, or stand serene for the coming new year. We do well to stop and see time… Where is it all going and the purpose of it all. we are not as the world around us who de-thrones God and live with uncertainty and turmoil, but we live in trust and peace, amidst the turmoil! They certainly would not cite our text with us. This is a confession of knowledge by the child of God, whereby he can live with certainty and live expectantly out of God's hand.
Providence. "I know whatsoever God does is forever." We talk and tap into his Providence. The preacher begins by telling us that God does all things. All of our lives, and all of that occur in the realm of time are the unfolding by the hand of the Almighty God. ALL THINGS! Everything that God does in time and space finds its root In the Almighty God, the eternal, unchanging God! What is in God's heart and his good pleasure? Read Ephesians 1:9. He makes His will known to us and the mystery of His will
Time. God is pleased together, all things in heaven and earth in Christ! The heart of God? His glory through Christ who gathers all things unto His glory! All in his counsel that man cannot add to or subtract from. we will not give an inch in regards to the sovereignty of God, which stands, even though man's responsibility stands as we work out our salvation with fear and trembling. As we must redeem the time to walk in the will of the living God. God will not violate our responsibility which has many biblical examples, yet understand it is the grace of God that allows you and I to say, I believe!
Trust. Why does God do all these things? That man may fear God. 1. Acknowledging God and 2. To know that God does all things for the sake of the church and His glory. What is the profit in all things? The we may not see it, it is always God's glory. What about the uncertainty? What about the coming new year? God is able to take care of us and willing, and it is our responsibility to live lives that reflect His glory.
Let us trust in our God, who is forever more unchanging, and has His people in His heart. He will work out all things, although sometimes the journey is joyous, all other times, not. And he will work out ALL Things for our good!
My grandfather use to pray "we belong to Him for time and eternity, come what may!"
