LEFT IN GOOD HANDS

“And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.” – Acts 20: 32

Paul had already told these Ephesian elders that he would never see them again in this life. He warned them also of false prophets that would enter in among them after his departure. But he assured them that they would be in good hands nonetheless. Paul reminded them that he was leaving them in good hands. He commended them to God and his all sufficient grace. What a comfort that blessed truth must have been for them and for Paul. The truth that the salvation of a sinner is entirely of the Lord is sweet consolation as they journey through this world.

Thank God that our entrance into heaven does not depend upon our will, or our worth, or our work. Jesus Christ is responsible to bring all his sheep to the Father’s house. And he shall not fail to do exactly that. It will be to his everlasting honor to present back to God every chosen sinner that God entrusted into his hands with these words: “Father, I and the children thou hast given me, I lost none!” Yes indeed, a child of God is in good hands, the hands of Jesus Christ, our great God and Savior, and nothing can pluck them out.
