6Now there was a day when the [b]sons of God . as in Genesis. Fallen creations in the angelic world.

came to present themselves before the LORD, and [c]Satan also came among them. Here is a picture of how all your troubles come about. God tempts no one. But he certainly allows the enemy to tempt and test so as to work out His purposes in our lives.

7The LORD said to Satan, “From where do you come?” He knew. Just starting the conversation.

Satan answered the LORD and said, “From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.” Devil as a roaring and roaming lion seeking someone to devour.

8The LORD said to Satan, “Have you [d]considered My servant Job? He probably had his eyes on Job indeed and wondered how he could bring him down.

For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, [e]fearing God and turning away from evil.” God’s assessment of Job. This will not change even in the worst parts of what is coming. Remember it believer!

9Then Satan answered the [f]LORD, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10Have You not made a fence around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11But reach out with Your hand now and touch all that he has; he will certainly curse You to Your face.” 12Then the LORD said to Satan,

“Behold, all that he has is in your [g]power; tremble. Fear God. Watch. Be ready.
