Genesis 6:17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.
19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.
20 Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.
21 And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.
22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

God told Noah that He was going to bring a flood of waters upon the earth. This was not going to be an accident. This was not going to be an act of chance. This was God’s method of judging the wickedness that had filled the earth.
God told Noah that He would destroy all flesh wherein is the breath of life. This judgment was upon more than just humanity. It was also going to affect the animals, including sea creatures. The fossil record is a witness to this fact.
In verse 18 God promised that He would establish His covenant with Noah. God did not give the details of this covenant in this passage. God had already proved Himself to be true and Noah could trust Him. Noah walked with God and thus he knew God was good. Noah was told that he would come into the ark that he was going to make, along with his wife and their three sons and their wives. Noah understood that the ark that he was going to build needed to be strong enough to protect them from the flood that God was going to bring upon the earth. This could not be some rickety old boat that would be made of bamboo and tied together with leather strapping or something like that. This ark needed to be water and weather proof and able to keep those inside it safe.
Not only was Noah to bring his immediate family into the ark, but he was also to bring of the living creatures into the ark. God was going to keep enough animals alive to fill the earth again after the flood.
We are reminded again that procreation requires a male and a female. The sodomite agenda of today is definitely a work of the devil, who wants to destroy humanity. If man cannot reproduce, then eventually he will die out. That is the current goal of our government. They are refining a plan of which people they want to keep alive and which people are dispensable. If they were to get their way, they would find themselves in big trouble because the elite of our society are dependent upon the regular people to provide for their luxurious lifestyle.
In verse 20 we read that even of the fowls two of every kind would need to be brought into that ark. All the things that creep as well.
There would also need to be storage for the food for Noah and his family and for all the different types of creatures. We do not know what type of storage methods Noah knew of but he would need to keep enough food to keep them alive and well for the entire time of the flood. Probably the easiest ones to prepare food for would be the cattle. Hay is fairly easy to store if it is in a dry place. Most certainly God showed Noah how to prepare and store the food that would be needed for the different creatures, including for his family.
In verse 22 we read that Noah did according to all that God commanded him. This again is the key to life. It is essential to know the true God and to trust Him and prove that trust by obeying Him. Noah was going to experience things he had never experienced before. He had no way of knowing what to expect. He could trust in the true God. He was bringing the flood and He gave Noah the detailed instructions for the building of the ark. Those instructions would include storage capacity.
God is the Creator of all things, and even though He was going to bring a flood that would destroy most things and would alter the topography of the earth and also change the climates, He was well aware of how to provide for all living things, even in a changed world.
We hear much of dinosaurs being extinct. There is no evidence to support that opinion. It is likely fair to say that there are fewer dinosaurs today than in the pre-flood world. However, it cannot be stated with certainty that there are no dinosaurs. Lizards are creatures that they say never stop growing as long as they live. We do not have lizards that live for hundreds of years today. Thus they do not get as big as they would have in Noah’s day. Two large creatures that we call dinosaurs were alive in the days of Job and in the days of the Psalmist as well as the days of Isaiah. Those two creatures are identified as “behemoth” and “leviathan”. They obviously both survived the flood as well.
God showed Noah His ability to provide for man. He also showed him that He can protect His child in the midst of a corrupt society. He also showed Noah that it is not necessary to live in that corruption unchecked. Today we are not told to prepare an ark in preparation for another flood. We are told the necessity of salvation and that with salvation comes eternal life which includes a home in heaven.
Eternity is a blessing for those who are saved. It is worse than just perishing in flood waters for the lost. Physical death is just part of the curse of sin. The Bible warns of the second death which is that final separation from God that the wicked face as they are cast into the lake of fire.
Noah trusted God and followed Him. The wise person will do the same today. Safety is found in knowing the true God.
