The book of Revelation in the Bible includes prophecies about the end of this present evil age. This godless world system will face God’s judgment, including those who profit from international trade (Rev. 18:6-8). No doubt corrupt government officials get their cut of the profits (Rev. 18:3, 9). Rev. 18:9-19 describes the reaction of those who witness the destruction of their economic system, “The kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with her will weep and lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning,… And the merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise anymore: merchandise of gold and silver, precious stones and pearls, fine linen and purple, silk and scarlet, …[etc.]” Then the prophet adds one more profitable transaction, “and bodies and souls of men” (v.13b). The first time I preached from the book of Revelation around 1980, I was surprised that such language could be stated of our modern era. Yet we are witnessing our own governments enabling the enrichment of the cartels who engage in human trafficking, including children who end up as sex slaves! God knows the end from the beginning (Isa. 46:10). Don’t doubt God's Word! Turn to Christ and be saved before He returns!
