“Coffee with Christ”

(Hebrews 6:17-20)

“Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus”

Do you have assurance of your salvation? What does that assurance rest on? Is it on your faithfulness to God or on God’s faithfulness to the heirs of promise? The heirs of promise spoken of in verse seventeen are all of those who have received Christ by genuine faith. The two unchangeable things that give assurance are the fact that it is impossible for God to lie and impossible for God to change. His unchanging word and character is the source of our confidence of eternal security. He is the anchor of our soul! Because of the finished work of Christ we have a steadfast hope!
