“Coffee with Christ”

(Exodus 34:6-7)

“And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.”

As soon a Moses went to the meeting place, mount Sinai, The Lord descended and stood with him there and “Proclaimed The Name of The Lord”. What He proclaimed of Himself was that He was merciful, gracious, long-suffering and abundant in goodness and truth! Merciful to thousands, forgiving iniquity, transgression, and sin! What a wonderful, forgiving and gracious God we serve! But in the same breath and sentence He finishes with “and that will by no means clear the guilty”. He is gracious and merciful to thousands of sinners of His choice and yet Holy and Just to others. He will not clear the impenitent, those who will not turn from their sin! The stiff necked and unrepentant that pass their sinful traits on to their descendants to the third and fourth generations. Let us go, as Moses went, to the meeting place with God, to obtain mercy in time of trouble.
