Vacation Bible School will be held Monday through Wednesday from
9:30 a.m. to noon each day.
Our midweek service is moved to Thursday evening this week. DEPENDENT ON THE LORD
Believers live by faith, dependent on the Lord for everything. We are
dependent on Christ our righteousness, knowing that we have no
righteousness of our own. We are dependent on the holiness of Christ,
knowing that we are nothing but sin. We are dependent on the power
of Christ, knowing we are so weak and frail. We are dependent on the
Lord to keep us, knowing that we would fall away if left to our own
devices. We are dependent on the love of God, knowing that we are
unlovable by nature. The believer is dependent on the Lord for
everything since He is everything and we are nothing.

IN CHRIST
Salvation is all found in Christ. We are blessed in Him, chosen in
Him, accepted in Him, redeemed in Him, given an inheritance in Him,
we are complete in Him and there is no condemnation in Him. Oh to
be found in Him!

“For our Gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power,
and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what
manner of men we were among you for your sake.” (I Thess. 1:5)
The believer in the Lord Jesus possesses the God-given
much assurance that for him to have any hope of eternal life, the
Father must have chosen him in Christ before the foundation of the
world that he should be holy and without blame before God in
love…He has much assurance that Christ was made sin for him at
Calvary, satisfying the law’s demand for justice by His own shed
blood …and the much assurance that the only righteousness which
God accepts is the imputed righteousness of Christ. This is the firm
conviction and much assurance of his hope.

When Adam sinned there was no other people in the world but Adam
and Eve. Only the Lord could save them. There are multitudes in the
world today. But it is still only by the Lord that we are made to stand.
Christ is the only Mediator between God and men. He is the only one
who can bring a fallen child of God to repentance. God does not have
to use us. But what a blessing that God is pleased to do so. How did
the Lord work repentance and faith in Adam and Eve? He showed
them their sin by showing what they deserved in a substitute which the
Lord killed in their place. Then the Lord covered them with the skins
of that substitute. We are to speak the gospel of Christ to one another.
Christ alone saves. He alone is able to bless the word to the heart. Not
only does the fallen confess this when they repent, the one used of the
Lord confesses the same by speaking only the gospel of Christ and
trusting the fallen to Christ our Master who alone is able to make his
people stand.

Christ did not say, "If you want to go to heaven, keep my
commandments," or, "If you want to keep out of hell, keep my
commandments," but, "IF YOU LOVE ME, keep my
commandments." Apparently, religion today cannot comprehend a
gift of eternal life in Christ that constrains us to walk in His word and
commandments because WE LOVE HIM.
