Let not the foreigner who has joined himself to the LORD say,
“The LORD will surely separate me from his people”;
and let not the eunuch say,
“Behold, I am a dry tree.”
For thus says the LORD:
“To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, [rest in Christ]
who choose the things that please me
and hold fast my covenant,
I will give in my house and within my walls
a monument and a name
better than sons and daughters;
I will give them an everlasting name
that shall not be cut off.” vs3-5
We are not to say for any reason that the Lord will reject us because of our sins. Surely, there are few sinners upon the earth, but whenever we find one - no matter how wretched - we have a beautiful gospel to preach.
First, no sinner will be denied. Let not the foreigner who has joined himself to the LORD say, “The LORD will surely separate me from his people”; and let not the eunuch say, “Behold, I am a dry tree.” There is no verse of Scripture that tells us, “Do not come to Him; it is too late.”
Every warning of God is for today, and if you hear His voice, then come to Christ [ 2 Cor 6:2]. He welcomes you, no matter what you’ve done, and He uses Paul as an example. 1 Tim 1:15, “This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.”
Secondly, the Lord is patient with sinners, because He gives eternal life by grace; it is mercy, pity, and compassion! It is the goodness of the Lord and not what we deserve.
He provides everything in salvation, even the love and pity to save us. 1 Tim 1:14, “And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.” He gives us faith, and He watches over us while we’re in rebellion. He loves us with sovereign saving love that cannot be stopped, and it will fetch us from far off [2 Sam 9:5]!
Thirdly, He saves us after we’ve seen ourselves as helpless, wretched, and blind! “The foreigner… the eunuch" He saves the poor sinner after he sees his sinfulness. All the while he’s self-sufficient and strong, then he’s far off from God. Ps 138:6, “Though the Lord is on high, yet He regards the lowly; But the proud He knows from afar.” But, when he realizes himself unworthy and trusts Christ anyway, then he has great faith. This faith will keep on growing downward in knowledge of our wretchedness and upward in fruitfulness [Isa 37:31]. We’ll trust Him more implicitly.
Fourthly, call to Him in prayer. Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved. Many people don’t want salvation, so they don’t seek it. Give up your sins and come out. Plead with the Lord and believe the gospel. Seek Him until He’s found.
Don’t take a second-rate salvation, rejoicing in the flame of others; get comfort and peace for yourself; experience power yourself. God will give it to you through prayer.
Fifthly, the salvation that God gives is sweet: It is experienced power over sins, joy in the Spirit, and understanding of the gospel; it is infatuation with Christ.
I will give in my house and within my walls
a monument and a name
better than sons and daughters;
I will give them an everlasting name
that shall not be cut off.” --Isa 56:5
You may think that you deserve nothing, and it is true, but He’ll give you all abundance, even the riches of the kingdom. He’ll satisfy your soul and put praises in your mouth; it won’t be fake religion, but it will spring up from your insides as a fountain of life. Jesus said, “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water [John 7:37].” He’ll pour His Spirit on you and make your life useful. You’ve wasted your years, but no more! You’ve lived for yourself in dreariness, but now you’ll live for Christ with joy. He’ll give us good and pleasant things, when we come to Him. He’ll fulfill the promises, giving us BETTER THAN WE IMAGINED.
Finally, may the grace of the Lord Jesus be upon you. Yes, we are depraved, but He is gracious, and because of this, we live fruitful lives!
