“The fool will no more be called generous,
nor the scoundrel said to be honorable.
For the fool speaks folly,
and his heart is busy with iniquity,
to practice ungodliness,
to utter error concerning the LORD,
to leave the craving of the hungry unsatisfied,
and to deprive the thirsty of drink.”
The fool will not prosper in the Lord, because he deprives Christ from the people. He does not preach the gospel freely. He has not been taught, so he can’t teach. God delivers the elect from his hands.
He holds back Christ crucified! He doesn’t preach the cross, leaving sinners helplessly lost in their own righteousness. He is filthy, so he doesn’t preach the cleansing Blood. He doesn’t have the power of the Spirit, so he can’t preach the liberty of the gospel in overcoming sin. “While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage [2 Pet 2:19].” Therefore, his people are famished! They have no water in this dry and thirsty land.
God sends TRUE PREACHING unto His people, because He saves by knowledge. He says of John the Baptist,
“And you, child, will be called
a prophet of the Most High;
for you will go on before the Lord
to prepare the way for Him,
to give to His people the knowledge of salvation
through the forgiveness of their sins,” -- Luke 1:76-77
He turns the lights on, so that we can see Christ. He helps us, putting the truth in our heart.
Come out from among these wicked false prophets. It doesn’t matter who they are, make the sacrifice, because they can’t profit your soul. “Indeed,” declares the LORD, “I am against those who prophesy false dreams and retell them to lead My people astray with their reckless lies. It was not I who sent them or commanded them, and they are of no benefit at all to these people,” declares the LORD [Jer 23:32].” Put living water above family and friends, above comfort and ease. “If anyone comes to Me,” Jesus says, “and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple [Luke 14:26].” Put the good of your soul and God’s glory above everything, and you will be satisfied. Foolish people don’t preach Christ, and we need Him!
Brothers, discern and be wise. Are you a fool or a generous person? Do you give out Christ sincerely?
