“Moreover the light of the moon will be as the light of the sun,
And the light of the sun will be sevenfold,
As the light of seven days,
In the day that the LORD binds up the bruise of His people
And heals the stroke of their wound.”
When the Lord God heals us and delivers us from rebellion, Oh how sweet it is! Chastisement is gone, and our own ways, which we have corrupted, hinder us no more! We enter the sweet blessedness of doing God’s will from the heart, and we see His reward. Pain and misery are replaced by sweet submission! Instead of living our way, we walk by faith, and it prospers.
God is good, but we have to walk in the light to see it, depending on the blood of Christ in repentant faith [1 John 1:7]. We must live according to His will to taste His pleasures. We put aside unbelief, and then faith brings the wind of God’s help and soul-satisfying joy. We give up on hypocrisy and see the truth prevail.
Saints, don’t harbor hard thoughts about God or doubt His counsel. Walk by faith and see that He is good [Ps 34:8]. Give up on the stubbornness of self-centeredness, and live to please God. Purify your hearts, submit your will, and find peace. “Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with his mother; Like a weaned child is my soul within me [Ps 131:2].” Don’t live as if everything must go your way, but see the goodness and the sovereignty of God, yielding to His power as a wise and loving God. Cast away your own righteousness and depend on the Blood. Look to the Holy Spirit, rather than strength within. All of the promises to the lowly will be fulfilled! He will bind the heart and give joy. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their sorrows [Ps 147:3].” He’ll give us contentment, not in our wills but in His. He will be faithful, gracious, and kind!
Have you learned to YIELD TO CHRIST? If so, then know that the blessing of this text is perpetual. “The LORD binds up the bruise of His people and heals the stroke of their wound.” There are unimagined trials to endure and horrible losses, but our life is hidden in Christ with God.
