“Zion will be redeemed with justice, and her returners with righteousness.” vs27

The Church of the Lord Jesus will be saved. The elect will be gathered in. This remnant will be spared from Sodom, which includes false religion [Isa 1:10]. These are the people He purposed to save, upon whom is electing love. We have been sinners, but we’ll be purged. Chastisement will teach us. He will humble us to obtain mercy. The pain is for our good.

God saves by aligning us to His will. He makes us willing to receive Christ and trust Him. We will obey.

“The destruction of transgressors and of sinners shall be together, and those who forsake the Lord shall be consumed” vs28

Not everyone is saved. God has mercy on whom He pleases. He sees two sinners. One hates God as much as the other, so He decides to have mercy on one; it is His mercy, and it is not owed to any man. Let us not speak against Him. Hold your mouth, O foolish man! You will obtain mercy, if you want it, but if you do not, do not be angry that He gives it to someone else. Turn from your wickedness. The Lord will destroy the transgressor!

“For they shall be ashamed of the terebinth trees”

False worship shall be destroyed! It does no good. All that man says in false religion is vain. They say, “But we have the numbers, it feels good, and this is our interpretation.” What does that matter when God punishes? He will unfold the wickedness, and YOU WILL confess Christ [Phil 2:11].

I’ve been there: Sincerely deceived, thinking that I was following the best religion, only to see that I was wrong. Let your righteousness become filthy rags. Grab the finished work of Christ by faith! Live in the newness of life.

“The strong shall be as tinder,”

It doesn’t matter how strong they are or how they have advantaged themselves in lies. It doesn't matter how well they hide the truth! It will be a day when God will expose. He will open the books. He will reveal their secrets, and they will pay.
