There is a fatalism that pervades us as the people of God. A bitter despair that looks upon the broken and ruined culture in which we live and feels as if the only option is to throw our hands up and hide. We look at a culture that is so deluded that it believes gender is fluid, that it has no innate value or meaning; a culture that honors the destruction of life and property as a completely proper response to anger fomented by propaganda; a culture that values the life of a puppy over the life of a pre-born child... we see all of this madness and feel as if there is just no use in even trying to make a difference, no value in striving after righteousness, no effect from trying to stand for truth... we see all of the hosts arrayed against us and feel as if we should just hide and wait for death, because after all, our reward is in heaven and this world is not OUR home...
But all of this despair neglects this simple fact: our God is on His throne, His authority is over all of His creation and He IS working all things out according to His eternal plan; this difficult moment is necessary and He promises that it will turn out for the good of those who love Him; but there is also one more piece that we tend to forget. God is also very capable of being good and kind to His children even here in the land of our sojourn! Beloved, there IS good in the hand of God for us! There is blessing in the hand of God for us! There is mercy in the hand of God for us!! There is LOVE in the hand of God for us!!!
Precious child, no matter what you are facing today, no matter how dark the world is around you, remember this one simple thing - the Lord has promised good to you! You will see His goodness, you will taste His goodness, you will experience His goodness, you WILL KNOW His goodness! Speak hope and courage to your heart and wait patiently upon the Lord. He WILL NOT fail!!
