“For this reason I write these things while I am away from you, that when I come I may not have to be severe in my use of the authority that the Lord has given me for building up and not for tearing down.” vs10
The authority of the Apostles is for building up and not tearing down. Fear is gone, so long as we honor Christ. We don’t have to be afraid of any man. Everyone stronger than us is to BUILD US UP and never to flaunt superiority [2 Cor 1:24]. They are for our help and assistance.
This is the nature of the kingdom: the strong support the weak, the rich the poor, and those who know better do better in sincere love. Do not be fearful or abusive.
“Finally, brothers, rejoice.” vs11
We have something to rejoice about. If we have passed the test, and we are in Christ… even if we are repenting… then we are right with God. We are forgiven and sins are atoned. We have the help of the Spirit.
God’s given us every reason to rejoice, and we must rejoice continually. Some have a sad personality. Others are afflicted with unusual pain. No matter what, we have joy in Christ that must be obtained. Go to your Father as a Father for your heavenly inheritance. Remember what you have in Christ [Phil 4:6-7].
“The God of love and peace will be with you.” vs11
God will be with you. You have nothing to fear. He will walk BY YOUR SIDE through the finished work of Christ [1 John 1:7]. He will guide you and deliver you, fulfilling all His good promises.
Walk as He commands. Make disciples. Get daily bread.
“All the saints greet you.” vs13
Love one another. Be about the business of the church. Yes, saints will hurt you and let you down. False brothers and true will cause you pain. Yet, you are to love, and in this, Christ is with you. He will improve your character by what you endure. He’ll make you more useful by the love that you give.
Saints will also comfort you! They will be your best friends. We don’t care about the church they attend, so long as Christ is preached. Many we won’t meet in this life, but their love from afar will help!
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” vs14
Finally, you have the Trinity with you. God the Father loves you, the Son gives you more grace, and the Spirit communes with you in power! You have the Godhead working for you. Remember every aspect of His Person and work. Remember that you have everything that you need.
In a world filled with loss and disappointment... in a world filled with challenges… we have God. He Himself is our inheritance, and we need no more. Flee from health and wealth preaching.
