“Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says to them: ‘Behold, I Myself will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep. Since you shove with flank and shoulder, butting all the weak ones with your horns until you have scattered them abroad, I will save My flock, and they will no longer be prey. I will judge between one sheep and another.” vs20-22
God judges between sheep. The weak and the helpless, He saves. The strong and sufficient, He destroys.
This is not the way of man, but it is the way of grace: All who are able to stand will fall. All who can’t get up will be given grace to endure to the end. The poor sinner - weak and helpless - will be justified. The self-righteous do-gooder will be condemned. The way up is down, and the lowly are exalted [Luke 18:14].
The gospel is contrary to our thinking, but it is God’s word!
Secondly, are you weary and tired of the oppression? Come to Jesus, and then you will know the Great Deliverer. vs25-27
“I will make with them a covenant of peace and rid the land of wild animals, so that they may dwell securely in the wilderness and sleep in the forest. I will make them and the places around My hill a blessing. I will send down showers in season—showers of blessing. The trees of the field will give their fruit, and the land will yield its produce; My flock will be secure in their land. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bars of their yoke and delivered them from the hands that enslaved them.”
He will give you peace that surpasses all understanding, wiping away your sin and clearing your debt before God. He will give the Spirit of assurance, confidence, and boldness [Isa 32:17]. He will relieve you of the burden, and you will no longer serve yourself, enslaved by sin. You will be free to serve God in the liberty of love - forgiving one another as He forgave you [Gal 5:13; Eph 4:32]. He will give joy.
You are weary now because MEN OPPRESS YOU! It is not the gospel that they preach. They heap up burdens that keep you from the Lord, and they take away your rest.
You follow your own counsel disastrously, and there’s nothing but waiting for Judgment in your conscience [Heb 10:26-27]. You are oppressed by unbelief, but your deliverance has come. Look up, and rejoice. Sin no more. Power has come by faith, and you can live godly. The cross has earned salvation from sin.
Do not look to this world: the blessing is not here!
Finally, hear the word of God and come! Vs31
‘You are My flock, the sheep of My pasture, My people, and I am your God,’ declares the Lord GOD.”
Do not delay. The gospel is for you, if you have ears to hear it. He is welcoming you, delivering you even now.
Bring no money: this is without price. Have no merit, but look to the Lamb’s blood. The sacrifice has been accepted, and He is raised from the dead, exalted to God’s right hand. Look to the Spirit as a gift to help you. Look to the promise of joy as real.
It is impossible to figure out before coming to Christ. You must come to partake, and then you will know that He is your God - a gracious, loving, and generous Being… One who ought to destroy but delights in mercy.
He’s delivered us from the bondage of false religion!
