(Genesis 4:26) “And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.”
And men have been calling upon the Name of the Lord ever since. Most of the time it is for self gratification. Those who call upon Him for miracles, and blessings are similar to those who call upon Him out of fear of death and Hell. Many call upon the Lord for their own benefit in one way or another, but they may as well cry out to the stars in heaven as call upon the Name of God! The first prayer The God of Heaven hears from the lips of a sinner are words of confession and repentance from a broken and contrite heart. There must first be genuine brokenness and repentance over sin before there will ever be a lifting up of salvation and blessing. For people to believe The Lord is blessing them in the midst of their sin and rebellion is ludicrous and blasphemous.
(John 2:23-25) Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
