(1 Corinthians 1:23-24) “But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.”
We as the people of God are to preach the Crucifixion of Christ to every creature under Heaven. In so doing we are giving a call to all under the sound of our voice. To the Jew who hears the general call of the preacher it is a stumbling block because they look for a Messiah that will conquer the enemy and free them for physical bondage of their persecutors. To the Gentile it is foolishness for who wants a God who can die? But to them that are CALLED. Wait a minute……didn’t Paul just say we preached Christ Crucified to the Jew and Gentile? That represents the whole world. Isn’t that the Gospel Call. Yes! But it is the general call from the people of God to the lost world and the lost world cannot hear US. They can only be reached by the CALL of the Holy Spirit in their heart. The effectual call of God. Then to the Jew or Gentile it is no longer a stumbling block or foolishness but the Power and Wisdom of God! Same words, same ears, different call from a different Caller!
