Lamentations 3:37–39 (ESV): Who has spoken and it came to pass,
unless the Lord has commanded it? 38 Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that good and bad come? 39 Why should a living man complain, a man, about the punishment of his sins?
The woes of a man, the woes of a people are directly connected to the sins OF THAT people. We cry out when the consequence of our evil actions are allowed to come home to rest upon our heads... we wail and lament that life is unfair, that God is impotent, that He is cruel; We loudly protest our innocence, but ask the heavens this question: while we were mired in our wickedness, did we not know that the evil we love does not love us back? Did we not know that the ruin of our lives is sown in the evil that we do, that we seek, that we love, that we live? Here is the truth that we all know in our bones, deny in our heads and NEED to believe in our souls: we know when we sin, and we ALL know the reality of our own guilt. There are NO excuses for sin. Period. We ALL know what is good and right, (whether we choose to acknowledge it or not) and we ALL know that we have, as a people, long ago ceased pursuing the good for the sake of the momentary pleasure of the selfish. We have turned promiscuity into a game show and called it love; we have made hatred and mockery into a national pastime; rebellion, arrogance and utter selfishness are the flavor of our entertainments and we wonder that our children hate and murder, that our streets run with blood and that the fabric of our souls are so stained and battered that we can no longer even stand the sight of our own faces in the mirror. We prove this with the constant stream of doctored and curated images we share on our social platforms, all of which are a desperate attempt to prove that we are something other than what we are… Oh, may God forgive us for the cruelty of our sin, for the ease which with we crush the objections of our conscience as we chase the expedient of our wants. We MUST turn from the path of destruction upon which we have set ourselves, we MUST stop the refusal to deal with our sin, and we MUST end the attacks which are leveled against anyone who dares to speak out against the unrighteousness of the day; against the agenda of the elite who call perversion love and who declare that murder is choice and pretend that it is a right… in short, we must turn away from our sin. If we do not then we can expect nothing from heaven except the final judgement of God which will ultimately sweep us away as a nation. Beloved, if we will not turn, then we must at least cease our complaining against God and providence - for when the punishment which we are chasing finally catches us, we will have purchased every drop of misery with the blood of the innocent and the souls of our children. Let us seek God while there is still an offer of mercy, let us cease to love sin and set ourselves to pursue righteousness, mercy and truth. There is still time, but it is vanishing quickly. Let us turn from our evil while it is still called today!
