The people of Berea acted with honor and integrity. They heard the words spoken, and then, rather than just accepting what they were told, they checked daily, CONSTANTLY to make sure that what they were told was the truth. This is foundational to a proper, accurate understanding of scripture, and to a clear understanding of the world around us. It is incredibly easy for unscrupulous men to twist the truth, and it is a practice in our day that is epidemic. We have already surrendered the ground of absolute truth in our culture, a fact made plain by the insidious practice of "spin". Truth to worldlings is a relative thing and they feel no compunction about emphasizing one aspect, packaging another and ignoring yet a third to made things say what they have determined beforehand it needs to be. Sadly, this practice has also made its way into the church in this day… and while the behavior is dangerous in the world at large, it is absolutely DEADLY in matters of spiritual truth! We must be a people who reclaim the practice of verifying what we have been told, do not take anyone's word for absolute truth! Check EVERYTHING against the Word of God, check and recheck, verify and reverify, question and make certain that truth is being accurately represented. In matters of state, the need is high, in matters of eternity… there are no words to convey how important this is! Oh my beloved! I charge you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ; check the scriptures daily, constantly. See the world through the lens of God's truth, evaluate worldviews, listen critically, think Biblically. Do not allow ANYONE to convince you that truth is a lie, that black is white, that evil is good, that God does not care about what we believe… do not for one moment give place in your mind and heart to the devil! Be transformed by the renewing of your mind and check the Scripture daily to see whether all these things are so!!
