Introduction: Galatians 6:9 says “ And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
In our text presents two groups of people: First group- (vs.13-15) is the group we must avoid for they will cause you to grow discouraged in serving God. They loose your trust in God, the Bible, and the Church, for this group grumbled against God. Second group (vs.16-18) is the group that feared God and esteemed His name. They encouraged one another to continue serving God inspite of the seemingly prosperity of the wicked and the suffering of the righteous.
I. IN ORDER TO KEEP YOURSELF FROM GETTING WEARY IN SERVING GOD, AVOID THOSE WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT SERVING GOD Vs.13-15, Cf. Numbers 14:1-3,20-29, Deut.1:32-35. A. These people were rendering judgment on God, blaming God rather than humbly submitting to His dealing with them. B. People who have self-centered attitude. 1. v.14- “…what profit it is that we have kept his ordinance…” C. People who would like to give wrong impression about happiness of those who fear and live for God. 1. v.14- “…what profit is it… that we have walked mournfully before the Lord of hosts?” D. People who always focus on the seemingly prosperity of the wicked, the people of the world, and had lost their spiritual outlook in life. 1. Their entire outlook in life’s earthly- not realizing that things in the world are all temporary and passing. Psalm 73:1-23
II. STAY WITH PEOPLE WHO WILL BUILD YOUR SPIRITUAL LIFE - GOD STAYS WITH HIS CHURCH- GOD HAD PROVEN HOW HE TRULY CARES, PROTECTS, AND PROVIDES. A. Find yourself with the people that fear God and esteem His name above the opinion of others.vs.16 1. They obeyed God and refused to compromise- Cf. Daniel 3:10-18, 6:10. 2. They obeyed God and refused to be intimidated by pressure- Cf. Acts 5:27-29, 41-42. 3. They refused to stop until they had finished their course- II Timothy 4:6-8. B. Malachi 3:16- find yourself with people who encourage themselves one to another. 1. Never loose the value of fellowshipping with other believers - so with the prayer of your fellow believers. a.) Never underestimate the power of a praying brother in faith. C. Always associate with someone blessed, protected, and cared by God- Cf. Genesis 24:31. 1. Find yourself close with the servants of God - because they bring blessing in your home… in your life. a.) The widow of Zarephath opened her home to Elijah and she was blessed- I Kings 17:9-16. b.) The Shunammite woman made a little chamber for Elisha and she was greatly blessed- II Kings 4:8-17.
Conclusion: God takes a special notice of them that fear and serve Him and promises that He will spare them in the day of judgment because they are His special treasures (v.17)
