It is not our works that please God, it is not our sacrifices. We do not earn His favor by the righteousness of our labors or the purity of our intentions. None of these will ever satisfy the just wrath of God for our sin. None of these can ever take away the stain of our guilt. Take words to the throne of grace. Words that admit, words that offer no self-righteous excuse, words that make no pretense of piety... words that instead ask for what we can never deserve, words that cry for mercy, for pardon, for forgiveness. Take your guilt to the cross of Jesus Christ, your plea to the throne of God, your confession to the Bema Seat of Christ's judgment and cast yourself before the God who promises that He will forgive and heal all who come to Him confessing their sin, all who lay aside every other hope, every other claim, every other way and who seek Him, and Him alone. Every other path is idolatry, every other ally a fraud, every other source of hope is empty, vain, deceitful... oh, dear child, cease your futile struggles against the mercy of God. Turn to Him with words that ask for Him to save, and you will find in Him all you have ever needed, and more!!
