“Who knows the power of Your anger?

God Almighty is a fearful and wrathful Being. He punishes His foes beyond the grave and forever.

As I was preaching tonight, Paul’s words came to mind:

“I know whom I have believed, and I’m persuaded that He is able to keep what I’ve entrusted to Him for that day.” [2 Tim 1:12]

What is that, Paul? It’s the SOUL! Paul entrusted his soul and his eternity into the safe hands of Jesus Christ, but oh, how awful it will be to meet God without a Mediator and a Savior.

The law was in the ark of the covenant. God is saying that no matter what, He will be holy, and He will punish sin. The mercy seat was on top, where the blood was sprinkled. There is one hiding place from God… one place of safety… our Lord Jesus Christ. In Him, we can stand before the Awesome Consuming Fire.

Men today think approaching God is a light thing, and Christ is optional! If we only knew how Dreadful and Fearful He is, we’d tremble, quake, and run, or we’d fall down helpless for mercy. I DO NOT WANT TO MEET GOD OUTSIDE OF JESUS CHRIST, and neither do you.

Moses continues,

“So teach us to number our days,

that we may present a heart of wisdom.” vs12

God help us to come to Christ and hide from Him.

“Come, my people, enter your chambers,

And shut your doors behind you;

Hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment,

Until the indignation is past.

For behold, the Lord comes out of His place

To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity;

The earth will also disclose her blood,
