One of the most incredible things about how Jesus deals with us is the absolute individual nature of His care, love, direction, and discipline. It is certainly NOT one size fits all. Though He is the answer to all of life's questions, the ONLY way to know God and the ONLY option for forgiveness of sin, the path that each of us leads is completely unique. It is not a cookie cutter relationship. He deals with us according to the perfect plan of the Father. What this means for us in practice is that we must absolutely trust, trust that what He is doing is best. This becomes doubly difficult when someone else's life looks different (or to us, better) than ours does. We're often guilty of thinking that we are being mistreated by God when we don't get what we want, when someone else gets what we think we must have, whether possessions, circumstance, relationships, opportunities or favor. But to each of us, the voice of Jesus is plain, "what is that to you, if he...? You follow me!!" This is hard counsel, but it is good for us to bear it in mind, for we never have the whole picture, and another man's life seems good to us until it is ours... then we cry out against what we now have, and long for what we do not. Beloved, it is best for us always, to rest, to wait, to trust. For our loving Father knows the good things He has for each of us, and He will surely bring them about in the fullness of HIS time.
