In the end, we must aim purposefully at what we seek. This is a struggle that we fight in our minds. It's about our focus, our intentions, our hearts desire... Paul commands that we flee the things that the world desires, that we turn away from greed, from envy, from the lusts of the flesh and that we pursue the things of God. That word "pursue" evokes a chase, a hunt, a challenge... we never simply fall into righteousness. And there are so many times that the fight feels hopeless. We fail and often desire to quit in our despair. But take heart, for even having the desire for this is evidence of a new heart beating in your breast. And that is good news indeed! For we MUST be born again to even have this conversation, but further, we must also be sustained by His power to grow. The grace that saved us is equally necessary for us to pursue this righteousness, this aim, this fight... so, the heart of the matter comes back to the heart of the Master. We need Christ firmly in our sights at all times. We need to WANT to grow in His character, we need to hunger and thirst after righteousness, and beloved, we shall be filled!!! For our Father desires this for us!! His will is to give us everything needed to make us like Jesus. So step up and fight, your God has already won the victory!
