The tired argument of liberty versus grace is a straw man; for it is absolutely true that we are not saved by the works of the law, but is equally true that hearts transformed by grace DESIRE to do what the Law requires!! And here, Jesus tells us why. Because a heart transformed by grace is the heart where Christ Himself dwells. It is the heart inhabited by God, enlivened by the presence of His Spirit... that heart is motivated by love. That heart is guided and directed by the One who loved us enough to die for us... and we who have been born of the Father want to do what pleases Him, always. Beloved, here is the simple truth, God's will is clearly displayed in His word, it does not change. What He required in the Law is a manifestation of His essential character and nature. His desires, His affections are born of His own person, and that is the same forever, yesterday, today and tomorrow. The Law of God is His self- revelation of what pleases Him... and if we love Him, we will keep His commandments because of that love. If, however, we love ourselves more than we love Him, we will seek to find ways to set His will aside, pretending that obedience is just an option, we declare (like a magician saying "abracadabra") that "we are not under law" as if that truth even applies to our loving obedience to the One who gave Himself for our salvation. Dear blood bought child, you will live your love, the question is who do you love?
