There are really two things we need to take away from this, first that God will chasten those who He loves. Secondly, we need to re-learn the fact that chastening someone you love is a GOOD thing. This latter item must actually be the first one we take hold of, for if we don't see that chastisement is love applied, then we will resent it when God corrects us. Our culture has taught us that we should never be corrected, or denied what we want... our culture has taught us that the only thing that really matters is our momentary happiness, comfort and pleasure. But God takes a much longer view, and is always at work making His children pleasing, honorable, and holy. He will always love you enough to correct you, and for that, you can, and will be, eternally grateful!!
